Coway Air Purifiers was established in May of 1989. The word "coway" combines the word "co" which means "all together" and the word "way" which means "road". It represents the belief that Coway is "a road for all to go together". The company promotes a healthy and comfortable life for customers by providing air purifiers, water filtration devices, digital bidets, megasonic cleaning device and other well-being home appliances. In 2003, Coway starts expanding globally with Japan. Eventually, they would expand to Thailand, China and Malaysia and the United States as well.

What Air Pollutants are Coway Air Purifiers Targeting?

Insecticide Pollutants: Can be caused by inadequate storage of insecticide, using insecticides indoors and outdoors, and the carpeting absorbing the chemical substances found in insecticide.

Construction Materials Pollutants: These materials include formaldehyde, asbestos, glass fiber, radon, adhesives, solvent, mildew and germs.

Flower Pot Pollutants: Pollutants inside of flower pots include pollen, noxious insect, insecticides and herbicides.

Bedroom Pollutants: Mildew, bacteria and ticks may be living in bedroom furniture, humidifiers and cooling systems.

Heating/Cooling System Pollutants: Inside of your home's air conditioning system anther, dust, skin substance, bacteria, animal hair and ticks can be lurking.

What Air Purification Technologies Does Coway Use?

Pre-Filter: Large dust, human hair and pet hair are removed by this filter.

Medium Filter: This filter gets rid of dust, germs and mildew.

Custom Filters: There are 5 different custom filters available. The formaldehyde filter removes VOCs that cause sick house syndrome such as formaldehyde. Sick house syndrome is the main cause of atopic dermatitis. 98.8% of yellow dust, micro dust, S0x attached to dust, N0x and other springtime atmospheric pollutants are eliminated by the yellow dust filter. The human influenza (HI) filter uses natural substances like gingko leaves and synthetic enzyme to get rid of cold virus and allergy causing substances. For those with weak, underdeveloped or compromised immune systems such as young children and the elderly, the Legionella filter eliminates 99.9% of Legionella. Pollen, tick, colon bacills and staphylocous aureus are decomposed and removed by the allergen filter.

Deodorization Filter: Bad odors and harmful gases are removed by the deodorization filter.

HEPA Filter: This filter eliminates cigarette smoke, viruses, germs and micro-dust.

Antimicrobial Fan: This final filter removes bacteria.

AP-1008CH and AP-1008DH: The AP-1008DH Coway air purifier uses a pre-filter, multi-care filters or customized filters, an activated deodorization filter and a HEPA filter to purify the air. The AP-1008CH uses a pre-filter, A3 medium filter and a HEPA filter to purify the air. They can purify rooms up to 300 square feet in size.

AP-1503CH: This Coway air purifier uses a pre-filter, antibacterial medium filter, HEPA filter, RBD plasma filter, antibacterial catalyst filter, and an active carbon deodorization filter. It can purify rooms up to about 300 square feet.

AP-2505CH: This Coway air purifier uses a pre-filter, non-woven filter, an SMD optional filter and a HEPA filter to purify the air. It can purify rooms up to 668 square feet in size.

AP-1005AH: This Coway air purifier uses a pre-filter, medium filter, HEPA filter, Ag allershield filter and deodorization filter to purify the air. It can purify rooms up to 270 square feet in size.

AP-1007EH: This Coway air purifier uses a pre-filter, non-woven filter, health-option filter, deodorization filter and HEPA filter to purify the air. It can purify rooms up to 258 square feet in size.

AP-1506DH: This Coway air purifier uses a pre-filter, optional filter, true HEPA filter and an active carbon deodorization filter to purify the air. It can purify up to 381 square feet in size.
