AirSoPure Company Information

About Airsopure

Airsopure International is the embodiment of a union between U.S. technology and Asian manufacturing. Two companies, Aurora Wireless Technologies based in Taiwan, and Garfield Industries Inc based in the United States make up this joint venture between east and west. Airsopure believes that indoor air quality is a global problem and their goal is to provide a cost effective solution and also open the world's eyes to the dangers of airborne contaminants. There are consequences associated with this global problem that Airsopure works to prevent in conjunction with national and local governments by creating standards for indoor air pollution.

Airsopure boasts an impressive list of high-profile customers that include the United States Department of Defense, United States School Districts, United States Postal Service, Oklahoma State Building, San Francisco Fire Department, TGI Fridays, various hospitals in Hong Kong (to help fight the SARS outbreak), the Foreign Correspondents' Club, McDonald's Corporate Office in Hong Kong and the University of Hong Kong. It operates from several bases, including offices in the United States, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and the Philippines.

Why is Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) so important?

Indoor air quality (IAQ) is the impact interior contaminants have on the air that we breathe. It is the nature of the air that affects the health and well-being of its occupants. There are three different types of factors that affect indoor air quality. The first types are physical factors. This includes variants like temperature and humidity. The second types of factors are mechanical. Ventilation rates and filtration are included in this type. Chemical factors are the final types. These factors include building materials, smoking, office equipment, disinfectants and pollutants from combustion devices.

IAQ is so important because nowadays, indoor air pollution is one of the top five environmental risks to public health. People spend more than 2/3 of their life indoors and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) informs us that indoor air is 6 to 100 times more polluted than the outdoors. The affected areas include homes, offices, restaurants, bars, health clubs, hospitals, schools, public transportation and other highly populated public facilities.

What is Photo-Catalytic Oxidation (PCO)?

Photo-Catalytic Oxidation (PCO) eliminates airborne contaminants such as bacteria, viruses, mold, spores, fungi, allergens and gases by using photons combines with a photo catalyst and titanium dioxide. The titanium dioxide photo catalyst is exposed to precisely controlled wavelengths of ultraviolet light (medical grade UVC) and becomes highly reactive. The medical grade UVC also breaks volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into basic elements so that when the organic pollutants become present, the photo catalyst attacks the chemical bonds. This converts toxic compounds into harmless substances.

PCO was first used in the 1991 Gulf War. An advanced technology developed for the U.S. Military, it helped protect again biological warfare. This technology was conceived by the Sandia Laboratory with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. Although it has been used by the Department of Defense to destroy toxic organic compounds that are hazardous to human health and the environment, it is now available for use in homes. PCO was first developed for home use by Airsopure to improve indoor air quality. The Airsopure S950, the world's first PCO Air Sterilizer, was released in 1997.

The Airsopure S-980 Ionic Air Purifier

The Airsopure S-980 Air Purifier includes 3 unique filtration stages and a pre-filter to dramatically improve your indoor air quality.

Pre-filter: All larger particles such as pollen, hair and dust are captured by the high grade pre-filter. The pre-filter also extend the life of the filters that are set up behind it, like the HEPA filter.

Activated Carbon: The activated carbon is behind the pre-filter. Odors, unpleasant smells and other toxic gases in the air such as exhaust fumes from automobiles are absorb and dissolved by the carbon.

There is also an extra active carbon layer in the center of the HEPA filter so almost none of the smells or toxic gases in the room escape elimination.

HEPA Filter: Allergens such as mold, fungus, spores, tobacco smoke, insecticide dust, dust mites and particles larger than 0.3 microns are removed by the 99.97 percent effective, hospital-grade HEPA filter.

Around the HEPA filter is a sponge that prevents air leakage. It provides an ultimate filtration effect and true maximum CFMs.

PCO: Bacteria and viruses are smaller than 0.3 microns, which means the HEPA filter cannot catch them. The S-980 includes a 253.7 nm germicidal UV lamp which offers the most effective killing efficiency for bacteria and viruses. The ultra-violet light breaks the chemical chains of any VOCs and converts them into harmless substances.

Also included with this air sterilizer is air quality detectability, a remote control, low maintenance responsibilities and energy efficiency.
