About Airpura

An Airpura High Efficiency Air Purifier can help allergy or asthma sufferers or people with other symptoms of respiratory distress. All Airpura air purifiers feature a SPEC-A design principle. One component of this principle is a simplified and unobstructed air flow. This allows for a quieter and more efficient performance. Another component of the SPEC-A design principle is a powerful, variable speed integrated fan/motor. A pressure-sealed filter chamber is also included so that no particles or gases escape the filters. The last components is a combination of a true HEPA filter and activated carbon with UV option to deliver truly clean air for home, office and industrial application.

What are the Components of the Airpura High Efficiency Filtration System?

The first step in the Airpura High Efficiency Filtration System is a pre-filter that traps larger dust and particles. The pre-filter's purpose is to stop larger particles from clogging the other filters. This filter can be vacuumed from the exterior of the unit to keep it working efficiently.

An activated carbon bed comes next. It adsorbs airborne chemicals, gases and odors. An Airpura carbon filter contains 18-30 pounds of activated carbon that can trap 60 percent of its own weight in airborne chemicals, gases and odors. The typical lifespan of this filter is 24 months.

On either side of the carbon bed is a micro-suppress filter. These two filters kill microbes that may collect on them.

Last but no least, a true HEPA filter is included that can capture up to 99.97 percent of particles as small as 0.3 microns. That is the same size as some bacteria. HEPA filters were developed by the Atomic Energy Commission and are now used in air purifiers to trap airborne particles.

What Makes Activated Carbon So Effective?

The only safe, cost effective way to trap noxious gases and odors is activated carbon. Millions of tiny pores between the carbon atoms on activated carbon are opened because it is treated with oxygen. The pores are so plentiful that one pound of activated carbon has a surface area of 60-150 acres. It can be used to protect people from poisonous gases and for water filtration.

Activated carbon uses the process of adsorption, which is where certain chemicals are attracted to the carbon and bond to it. Activated carbon filter are similar to sponges in that when they are full, no more adsorption can take place. More activated carbon means more chemicals can be adsorbed and for a longer period of time.

How is the Construction of Airpura Air Purifiers Beneficial?

Airpura air purifiers feature certain construction components that make them stand out from other air purifiers. Lower air turbulence and less noise are apparent because the air flows directly from the filters to the exterior. Also, motor and electric parts are out of the airflow. The one piece motor/fan assembly gets rid of vibration problems and the compact design allows more space for filtration. The filter chamber is sealed with felt gaskets which prevents off gassing from rubber seals. All of the impurities pass through the filter because of the pressure seal system on the filter chamber. It features powdercoat steel mesh housing and a modern attractive appearance and is suitable for any decor. Lastly, variable speed control allows the unit to be set at an optimum CFM for whatever situation.
