The particle filter is made of polypropylene, which mechanically filters out airborne particles. To maximize filter effectiveness, particles are negatively charged before reaching the filters, leaving the air you breathe clean and pure. Includes one particle filter that removes dust, pollen, bacteria, pet dander, mold spores and other airborne particles.

Comments: This does seem to make a difference. I have three cats, and have had lots of dust, and it was a problem to work in my home office some days, even with pretty consistent vacuuming. These filters last the amount of time claimed (6 months) and they make the air much more breathable. I've been happy with my Blueair unit, but of course it's only as good as its filter. This one seems to do the job.
