The EL500AZ uses an advanced multi-stage filtration system to keep your air clean and breathable. The True HEPA filter is washable and eliminates 99.97% of dust, debris and dander.  The patented PlasmaWave filter stops residual contaminants and bacteria in its tracks while the activated carbon filter takes care of odors (one years' supply is also included). 

Other features include an odor detector that constantly monitors air quality by automatically adjusting the fan speed to the proper level.  The sleep mode function dims the lights on the unit and reduces the operation sound to near silent so you can breathe clean air while you're resting.
